The Zwerfenberg is undoubtedly one of the great classics in the Schladming Tauern, a spring snow route that can easily be done to the summit with skis. The immediate neighbor of Hochgolling, the highest summit of the Lower Tauern, offers high alpine scenery and extensive views. Due to the length of the route, an early start is advisable.

From the starting point on the marked drivable path, follow the valley about 9 km to the Golling hut and further into the Golling corner. Then turn right to head north over a steep step into the large eastern cirque between Zwerbenberg and Elendberg. Ascend over several slopes in the cirque. At the uppermost corner, turn left onto a small plateau and then southeast, and at the top turn left again to the summit.

The descent follows the ascent route; in the cirque to the Golling hut, variations are possible depending on snow conditions.
