The Forggensee is replenished every spring by the meltwater-carrying Lech. At the dam, you can learn more about the background at the information center of the Roßhaupten hydroelectric power plant (Mon – Sun 8:00 – 17:00). The Litzauer loop near Burggen is the last unregulated section of the Lech downstream of the Forggensee. The nature reserve with its floodplain forests is worth a detour. Via the former route of the local railway Kaufbeuren – Schongau, inaugurated in 1922, you reach the northernmost point of the circular route with Kaufbeuren. On your old town stroll, don't miss the Fünfknopfturm, the city's landmark. From Marktoberdorf, you pedal back to the Forggensee via the route of the local railway Marktoberdorf – Lechbruck, opened in 1899. Along the west bank, you reach Füssen.
