Right at the start, you will encounter the typical Black Forest landscape: wide ridges, dense forests, and open meadows with magnificent views. At over 1,000 meters in elevation, you will repeatedly enjoy impressive panoramas and the soothing tranquility away from busy roads. The alternation between shady forest sections and sunny clearings makes the route particularly scenic – ideal for taking a deep breath and experiencing nature intensely.
A special highlight is the world’s first largest cuckoo clock in Schonach in the Black Forest – an original photo motif and a piece of living Black Forest craftsmanship.
Next, the tour continues to St. Georgen in the Black Forest, where the idyllic monastery pond invites you to a refreshing break. Nestled in gentle nature, it offers a moment of calm before the next elevation gain. Along the way, wide views open again and again over small Black Forest villages and hilly landscapes – perfect moments to pause.
Another highlight of the tour is the Linach dam near Vöhrenbach. The historic arch dam lies picturesquely in the Linach valley and impressively combines nature and engineering. The ride along the reservoir is one of the most beautiful sections of the route – still waters, forested slopes, and a very special atmosphere make this part unforgettable.

You start out of Furtwangen heading north towards Schönwald. You ride over the Katzensteigstraße, which offers a good alternative to the parallel B500 federal road. Here you can enjoy the beautiful landscape with traffic-calmed conditions while riding various inclines up to 1010 meters of elevation.
Afterwards follows a rather leisurely, easy descent through the Weißenbach and Schwarzenbach valleys, which leads you alternately through shady forests and sunny meadows. You follow the road until you reach the B500. Here you turn left onto the B500 and leave it again after just a few meters, then follow the Schonacherstraße with gentle climbs past the Langewaldschanze to Schonach.
You pass the cozy Black Forest village of Schonach and head onto the Triberger Straße for a rapid descent to Triberg. The road takes you near the world’s first largest cuckoo clock, which you can visit with a short stop.
After riding through Triberg, you follow the federal road B33 until you leave the B33 downhill to the right after the church in the district of Nußbach. From now on, you continue along the idyllic Vordertalstraße, always uphill along meadows and forests. At the summer pass you return to the B33, where you can use the bike path, first on the left side of the B33 about 400 m, then the bike path switches to the right side. You enjoy a relaxed descent to St. Georgen to the refreshing monastery pond, which you can also use for a break. With a slight ascent the road leads you to the district of Brigach. There, you turn left onto the Oberkirnacher Straße, which initially offers beautiful views of the village before you ride through a pleasantly shady forest to the intersection. Here you follow the K5728 to the right towards Kesselberg for about 2 km. After a short ascent, you turn left onto a small road called "Am Toten Hund". From now on, the path leads you through a beautiful forest with slight climbs but mostly descending grades to Vöhrenbach. In town, at the church, you turn right onto the state road L172 (Donaueschinger Straße).
You follow the road to the turnoff onto Linachstraße (K5732), the last ascent on this tour. A moderate climb first leads you to the Linach dam, a masterpiece of engineering. With a slight but steady climb, you ride along the Linach reservoir, always upwards through the beautiful Linach valley. Shortly before the pass height, the slope increases somewhat. Then you enjoy a rapid descent back to your starting point in Furtwangen.
