The High Black Forest, close to France, Switzerland, and just 30 kilometers east of the gates of Freiburg, is the most popular holiday region in the Black Forest. Pristine landscapes attract with numerous attractions: The Feldberg is the roof of the region and the highest mountain in Baden-Württemberg at 1493 meters. World-famous is the Titisee, the Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest. The Wutach Gorge attracts as Germany's largest canyon.
1000 kilometers of signposted hiking trails and numerous cycling and mountain biking routes with views of forests, mountains, and lakes provide unique nature experiences.
In winter, the High Black Forest also attracts nature lovers with 300 kilometers of winter hiking trails, 700 kilometers of cross-country ski trails, and around 60 kilometers of signposted snowshoe trails into the open and pristine landscape.
Skiers and snowboarders can conquer over 100 kilometers of pistes with 60 lifts as well as Germany's longest jib line. The "Highest" in Baden-Württemberg, the Feldberg, is snow-safe during the winter months and offers top-prepared slopes in all difficulty levels.
