Poland Route: Henryków Lubanski - Görlitz
Today's final stage in Poland and in the Lower Silesia region (Wojewodschaft dolnoslaskie) is slightly hilly but mostly quite flat. It takes us largely through rural areas to the state border, giving us plenty of time to look forward to the connecting stages. When we leave Henryków Lubanski, we see the oldest tree in Poland on the western edge of the village: the yew, estimated to be about 1400 years old. The path continues through the oak avenue in Gronów to Jedrzychowice, where we see the Protestant Church of the Nativity of Mary (1945) with many pilgrim shells. Four kilometers further, we arrive in Zgorzelec/Görlitz—at the destination of our stage and the so-called Poland Route. In Görlitz, we should definitely visit the Cathedral of St. James and give thanks for the pilgrimage so far through Poland.
For those who want to stay again in Poland, we recommend accommodation in Zgorzelec: Dom Turysty, Partyzantówstraße 2, (Tel. +48/75 775 26 69, domturysty.prv.pl).
