The route is marked throughout with a yellow scallop shell on a blue background and can be tailored to individual preferences—whether for a single day, several stages, or a pilgrimage lasting several weeks. Diverse landscapes, cultural sights, and, above all, the hospitality of the local people define the experience.
About 100 hostels offer simple lodging and a space for encounters. The pilgrimage route is open to everyone—regardless of religious affiliation. It invites you to find peace, gain new perspectives, and return to everyday life feeling renewed.
To help you find your way along the Ecumenical Pilgrimage Route, the pilgrim’s guide is particularly useful, featuring hand-drawn, detailed route maps at a
a scale of 1 : 50,000. Each pilgrim guide includes a pilgrim’s passport. A pilgrim’s breviary also contains texts and prayers for the journey.
The route is not divided into stages. Everyone can proceed at their own pace.
Additional fold-out maps are also available from other map providers.
There are also hostels in many towns along the route . These can help structure your route planning and are also listed in the pilgrim guide.
