CAMINS
The route starts at Cavallers Dam. The path leads us to the upper basin of the Caldes riverbank. The herds that go to graze in the meadows of Val d'Aran also use this route to cross through Port de Caldes towards Colomèrs.
This is one of the most beautiful and spectacular high mountain stages of the entire route. During the first part of the stage we ascend to the Port de Caldes (2,567m), one of the major mountain passes of the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, connecting the Ribagorza valley of Caldes with the Aran sector of Colomers.
Past Port de Caldes towards Colomers, we will discover one of the best high mountain circuits in the Pyrenees. Amid extraordinary natural surroundings, within the wonderful Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, we discover the spectacular Colomèrs cirque to enjoy one of the largest concentrations of crystalline glacial lakes in the Pyrenees, with beautiful lakes of very different shapes and sizes. Also, the Gran Tuc de Colomèrs, Tuc de Ratera, Tuc de Sendrosa, Creu de Colomèrs... are some of the mountains close to 3,000m in altitude and define the Colomèrs cirque, a grand natural amphitheater.

Equipment
MOUNTAIN FOOTWEAR (mountain boot or shoe)
In each stage and depending on the condition of the terrain and/or weather forecast, the recommended shaft height of the footwear (boot or shoe) will be indicated.
CLOTHING
Since the routes run through a mid and high mountain environment, and the weather can change quickly and drastically, WE RECOMMEND regardless of the difficulty of the route the following items:
- Long trousers. If the route characteristics along with expected weather allow the use of shorts, a piece to cover the rest of the exposed leg must be carried, either by carrying a second pair of trousers or long leggings in the backpack in all cases.
- First layer body (T-shirt) with short breathable sleeves and quick drying (tank tops are not recommended because they are not suitable when carrying backpacks).
- Second layer body, thermal layer consisting of a light/medium fleece or long-sleeve thermal shirt.
- Third layer body, waterproof and windproof rain jacket with hood.
- Cap / Buff or similar for the sun.
Even if some of these garments are not used during the itinerary, it is recommended to carry them in the backpack throughout the trip, ready to use in case of weather changes or any unforeseen event and to avoid hypothermia in case of weather change or incident that extends the day.
MINIMUM CONTENT OF THE BACKPACK
- Mountain backpack of 20-30 liters with waterproof cover.
- Personal first aid kit with special medications if required.
- Water (minimum 2 liters, but this data will be confirmed in the briefing).
- Food (depending on the duration of the route).
- Sunscreen, cap/hat, and sunglasses.
- Documentation and charged phone.
