Safety information
The ascent to the summit (after the Vallüla pass) is challenging. Sometimes you have to climb steeply through scree and rocky fields. Some climbing sections must also be mastered, although not too difficult or dangerous. Nevertheless, sure-footedness, no fear of heights, and good equipment are prerequisites as slipping and falling can have severe consequences. At some points, there is also a risk of falling rocks.
The correct path is not always visible, especially during the ascent.
Roadbook
From the Bielerhöhe bus stop at Silvretta Lake, cross to the other (northern) side of the road, head towards the chapel, and here the marked hiking trail begins. It goes steeply uphill in switchbacks.
At the next signpost, keep right. Continue along the grassy slope facing Tirol. At the end, it goes steeper uphill in switchbacks again.
Then you reach a grassy plateau and pass southeast of the Kleine Vallüla. At the end, it becomes rocky.
At the Vallüla pass, turn right again. Not far now; then you reach a notch where you have to find the best way uphill yourself; occasionally you can spot the path. At the end of this notch, there is a small pass from which you can see down into the Montafon. Now continue uphill to the summit on the right; sometimes the path is again hard to see. Here and there you can spot a blue-white marker.
For the descent, we take the same way until we reach the sign to Bielkopf. There, we go right, slightly uphill. However, do not go further uphill at the highest point (that would lead to the Bielerspitze) but continue straight ahead. Soon it goes slightly downhill again. Then you reach the summit cross of Bieler Kopf.
We follow the hiking trail downhill and soon return to the bus stop at the Silvretta reservoir.
