The Schärtenalm on the Hochkalter
From Hintersee over Blaueis to Steinberg!
Starting point of the climbing route to Steinberg is the Seeklause parking lot at Hintersee. Up to the material cable car behind the Schärtenalm, a partially very steep forest road leads the way. From here, a path winds in switchbacks up to the Blaueishütte. After the Blaueishütte, the path leads into the Blaueiskar, before the alpine trail branches off to the left. Over rocky slabs, the path leads up to the scenic summit of Steinberg.

Safety information
The ascent over the slabs from the Blaueishütte to Steinberg should not be underestimated: it leads unsecured over steep and partly scree-covered limestone slabs. A high level of surefootedness and a head for heights, as well as some experience walking in pathless terrain, are definitely required here
