On a relatively small area, there are many different habitats and a specific flora and fauna – and these are waiting to be discovered. The complete Nagelfluh crossing is a challenging day route, but individual parts of the area can also be hiked.

There we cross the Rieder Steige and continue straight uphill to Hochberg-Alpe, where we can stop for a piece of homemade cake and a cool drink. Then it goes on to Hornklause, a small hut that can be rented privately. Now we turn left, pass the Bierlein hut and the Kessel-Alpe, and finally reach the Alp-Alpe. Here we turn right.
Our path now leads us to the Kempten Nature Friends House, where we can stop and relax a little on the beautiful sun terrace. Little hikers will enjoy the lovingly maintained petting zoo. Then we continue to Alphöhe; after about 500 m, we keep left at a fork and soon reach Seifenmoos-Alpe. From there, turn right to Sennalpe Mittelberg. Here you should definitely try a piece of the homemade cheese – or better yet, stop for a snack, because we’ll still need some energy for the last big climb.
This leads us via Alpe Gund up to the ridge of the Nagelfluh chain, which we reach just east of the Stuiben summit. Now we follow the ridge path to Steineberg (1660 m). The brave among us can descend from the summit structure via a ladder, but there is also a path around it. Then we hike the last stretch up to the summit of Mittagberg (1451 m), where the mountain station of the chairlift is located.
Now we can either gently float down into the valley or descend on the signposted hiking trail to Immenstadt. From there, take the bus back to Bühl, or walk along the Kleiner Alpsee back to Alpsee Camping.
