Alternatively, you can follow the secured ridge southwards and descend from the Eisbodenscharte to the Hochalm and from there down into the valley.

    Roadbook

From Hintersee, ascend on trail 482 past Schärtenalm in 2 – 2 ½ hours to the Blaueishütte. Follow the continuing path towards the Blaueis Glacier until, behind the remains of the old hut, trail traces branch off to the left and lead under a large rock to a steep rock gully. Here the fixed ropes begin. Ascend through the steep rock and scree gully climbing from right to left (beware of falling rocks). Above the gully, continue ascending to the left over rugged terrain to a notch; here the trail turns right and leads to the summit ridge. Keeping left on rocks you reach the exposed, small summit of the Schärtenspitze. Descent via the ascent route.
