Climbing sections up to grade III on the descent. At the two grade III sections that must be climbed on the descent, a fixed rope is present. During my ascent both ropes were still in good condition.
If you do not trust these ropes, please take equipment for abseiling!
Roadbook
From the parking lot at Hintersee in front of the barrier, take the MTB on the paved connecting road (Hintersee-Hirschbichl) to Bindalm. There leave the MTB and continue on foot following the hiking trail to Mittereisalm. From the upper, still intact hut do not take the marked path, but head across an alpine meadow on a barely visible path towards the south (to Mooswand). The path leads into a dwarf pine and pine forest, becomes more visible and winds first gently then steeply up a gully on the slope. At the top, exit to the left and follow the ridge towards Kraxentrager 1799m (signpost).
From there continue along the dwarf pine-covered ridge/back to the summit of Karlkopf 2195m. From there continue on the well-marked path to Kammerlinghorn 2483m. Up to this point, little to no difficulties.
From the summit, cairns become sparse. First, bypass a notch and the following tower to the left through a crack to regain the ridge on its backside. Then continue more or less along the ridge up and down (grade II) to Hochkammerlinghorn 2506m. From there, descend key section No.1 (grade III) fixed rope present. Continue along the ridge or the easiest path (II / III-) until you reach the second (grade III) descent section. Descend/abseil steeply or slightly overhanging into a notch and climb back up on the other side in II+. Shortly before the notch to Hocheisspitze the terrain eases up to grades I-II. From the notch follow the normal route to Hocheisspitze with grades I / II and enjoy the great view at the summit. The two key sections III+ are climbed downwards but eased by the existing rope. Both ropes were still fine. Own rope advantageous.
Descent: From the summit of Hocheisspitze, return the same way to the notch and then first descend steeply on scree / slab terrain. Then ride down on the scree, quickly losing altitude, following the first sparsely marked normal path from Bindalm back to the alpine pasture and the MTB. Ride down with the MTB back to the parking lot.
