Roadbook
From the hut, follow the ridge (first on a wide forest road) flat towards the west, bypassing the towering Schrödelstein on the south side. At a saddle, follow the signpost to the Tutzinger Hut further west, thus continuing along the wonderfully scenic ridge over the Stangeneck and the Vorderer Kirchstein to the Latschenkopf. Behind it, descend to the fork at the Probstalmsattel. Here, there are two options: Either choose the left (partly secured with cables and airy) path over the Achselköpfe, which is only recommended for very experienced mountain hikers. Or stay right at the fork and bypass the Achselköpfe first descending, then ascending on their north side. Both variants meet again west of the Achselköpfe, and now it goes through sparse dwarf pine terrain up to the Rotöhrsattel.
Here, follow the signpost to Benediktenwand on the left and must master a short rock passage secured with steel cables. Then it continues more gently ascending, partly through dwarf pines, partly through open terrain towards the summit of the Benediktenwand, where an open shelter hut offers protection from thunderstorms.
After the summit break, continue west through the soon denser dwarf pine terrain, partly also off-path but well marked, down to the west shoulder of the Benediktenwand. Approximately where light mountain forest begins, you reach a fork and now go right here. The path now crosses north and finally leads down into the basin north of the Benediktenwand in two long serpentine curves, where the Tutzinger Hut is located.
