We make a large arc around the Grossglockner and pass through various terrains. Beautiful stream valleys alternate with boulder fields, alpine pastures, and again and again we have a magnificent view of the Grossglockner.
The hike starts at the Stausee Mooserboden, which is fully accessible by public transport. Via the Kapruner Törl and the Tauernmoos Lake to our first overnight stay at the Rudolfshütte. On the second day, again a large altitude difference must be overcome to reach the Sudetendeutsche Hütte via the Kalser Tauern. On the third day, we follow the Sudetendeutscher Höhenweg with some passages equipped with steel cables to the Dürrenfeldscharte. Then follows a long descent to Kals, passing Ganotzeck (2065m) where the "Chapel for deceased mountaineers" stands. From Kals we go over the Peislachtörl to the Glorerhütte, a nice rest spot to continue to the Salmütte. From here, there is again a magnificent view of the Glockner.
On the Wienerhöhenweg we go on the fifth day to the Glocknerhaus. A short day with the possibility to take a detour of about 2 hours via the Gletscherweg Pasterze.
You can also rest before the long day of about 8 hours to Fusch.
The last day we go via the Gleiwizerhütte and Brandlscharte back to the parking lot of the Gletscherbahnen.
