Safety information
-WARNINGS regarding the use of the content of the Azimut project: The extent of the trails in this network is very large and subject to rapid and unpredictable degradation due to natural or human causes, so that the available human and economic resources are insufficient to resolve all the criticalities in real time; however, the network exists although it may sometimes present issues of passability and/or orientation. Moreover, electronic GPS routes may contain errors due to the instruments used or the survey or tracking methods. They are to be considered aids for locating the itinerary and navigation and do not replace the topographic map and traditional orientation instruments. For these reasons, the exercise of public information activities, monitoring, maintenance of routes and signage by volunteers coordinated by the CAI of Macerata, does not exclude the existence of natural obstacles and difficulties nor the risks connected to visiting the natural environment, and anyone undertaking a route/itinerary even if marked does so under their own responsibility to know and control the adopted means, wear appropriate clothing, have taken care of necessary physical preparation, be aware of orientation techniques, map reading and land reading, be able to recognize and assess the risks of their behavior, and take precautions to mitigate their effects.Roadbook
From the hamlet of Morro, situated at 850 m above sea level, you descend slightly and begin to go around the mountain with various ups and downs but gaining altitude until the hamlet of Piedimonte located at 950 m a.s.l., here you must face a steep stretch then continue mostly downhill until you reach Vallupo, where a small detour leads to an ancient chestnut tree.
From Vallupo, with almost constant altitude, you reach Ponze and from here begin to climb until you reach 1200 m, a climb with moderate slope but with stretches of rocky and uneven surface requiring considerable effort. Once at the highest point, you enjoy the view and the tranquility of the pastures and begin descending passing through a holm oak wood where a herd of horses often finds refuge. You continue always descending on a dirt road where a short stretch with a stony surface interrupts the ease of the descent. Then you reach an asphalt road that gains some altitude, here with another detour you can go to Casa Rampi, a small cluster of houses where there is a private museum. Returning back, you continue with a very short climb reaching a dirt road, also with constant altitude, which cuts across the mountain and takes you to the saddle above Vallupo where you must face the last 70 m of elevation gain uphill on a mule track with short stretches of slightly uneven stony surface.
The descent back to Morro takes place on a mule track where the only difficult stretch is towards the end, where there is also a section with stony and gravelly surface requiring the last precautions.
