Roadbook
Hermagor - Möderndorf - Garnitzenklamm - Egger Alm - Dellacher Alm - Koutschitzalm - Vorderberg - Möderndorf - Hermagor
Start/End Point:
Your tour starts at the town hall - you turn right and ride north along 10. Oktoberstraße. Keep right, follow the road, cross the Gail and turn right after the bridge. Along the riverbank protection, the road leads to the roundabout - here take the second exit and follow L25 crossing the railway tracks. Along the road, near the forest edge, there is a junction - here you turn from L25 onto the paved side road (following the path of the R3a) - at the next fork, keep left. You stay on this path, pass a short forest section, and then reach L23. Here turn left, cross the Gail and now stay on the road for a longer stretch.
The route leads you southwards - to Möderndorf, past the entrance to the Garnitzenklamm and then up numerous hairpin bends through the forest. At about 1,350m you leave the forest, reach the alpine pasture area and shortly after the Egger Alm. The road runs through the hut settlement in an easterly direction, below the Egger Kanzel and to the left of Egger Alm lake, straight on to Dellacher Alm.
From Dellacher Alm the route continues east for a short time along a meadow path, then follows a gravel road, slightly downhill. You cross a stream and then turn right - in this area there is coarse gravel - before you reach another paved road, where you keep left/straight, parallel to the stream, and continue east to Koutschitzalm. The route follows the paved road further downhill to Vorderberg, where you continue straight through the settlement area northwest to the Gail river.
Here turn left and follow the R3 path along the southern bank of the Gail - westward - staying steadily on the Gail dam. The route then runs below the Egger Moos - at its end you reach a forest area, here at the first opportunity you turn left off the Gail dam and ride a short stretch south, until at the next fork you turn right and cross the stream. Ultimately the path joins L23 again and you turn right, following the road back to Hermagor, which you already know from your outward journey, until you arrive back exactly at your starting point.
