Vom Hüttenensemble her, gehört die Egger Alm (1.422 m) zu den urigsten Almen in Kärnten. In einem Talkessel auf rund 1.500 Metern Seehöhe reiht sich hier Holzhaus an Holzhaus und ergibt so das Flair eines uralten Almdorfes.
Im Almwirtshaus ist auch die "Alte Käserei" untergebracht.
Neben kalten Gerichten bietet die Eggeralm auch warme Speisen, wie Kaspressknödel Suppe, Käsesuppe aus dem Gailtaler Almkäse g.U., Kaiserschmarrn uvm.
