The day trip snowmobile ride from Vuokatti to Kuhmo and back offers a rewarding driving experience on a versatile snowmobile trail through beautiful snowy nature.
The popular linear route from Vuokatti to Kuhmo and back is 217.6 km long. You can also start this from Kuhmo.
At the starting point in Vuokatti, you can get going immediately as a well-maintained route leads you through snowy forests and lakes. Towards Kuhmo, the route passes through pristine wilderness areas where you can truly experience the peace of nature while enjoying the thrill of snowmobiling. More demanding sections and fast turns offer challenges even for experienced snowmobilers, and the route’s diversity keeps your interest up all along the way.

Note that there are ice sections on the route, so ensure the ice conditions before your departure.

- maximum permitted speed for snowmobiles in terrain on land areas is 60 km/h
- on ice-covered water areas the speed limit is 80 km/h, but on the route it is 60 km/h

Start freely from any location in Vuokatti where you can join the snowmobile trail. Follow the marked snowmobile trail on Iso Sapsojärvi, continue to the end of Kiantajärvi and turn right. Stay on the same snowmobile trail to Kuhmo; the route is marked. Return from Kuhmo along the same route back to Vuokatti. When you reach the end of Kiantajärvi, continue driving on the ice until the route forks, then turn right and continue towards Iso Sapsojärvi, following the left shore back to the starting point.
