We strive to announce all closures caused by logging, hunting parties, etc. on our hiking trails in the region on this platform.
However, there are situations where hiking trails are closed, and we were not informed.
Every hiker who walks through closed areas (barrier tape, "Caution hunting" etc.), even on weekends, acts with gross negligence and is responsible for his or her actions!

You have to expect impairments to the paths of this kind when undertaking a hike.
If you believe certain sections of the trail are impassable for you, then you should circumvent them.
Especially in bad weather, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.

Roadbook
The circular route begins with a ride on the Saarpfalzbus 297 from the station in Kusel to Lichtenberg Castle (hourly on weekdays, every 2 hours on weekends - www.vrn.de).
The Veldenz hiking trail leads through the hilly landscape of the Palatinate Forest, lined with magnificent panoramic views into the Hunsrück and the Palatinate.
It starts with a bang: Lichtenberg Castle, ancestral seat of the Counts of Veldenz, high above the small village of Thallichtenberg, is the starting point of the hiking trail, which ends with this short stage at the train station in Kusel.
Lichtenberg Castle (youth hostel, Musicians' Land Museum, Paleontology Museum) is one of the largest castle ruins in Germany, with 425 m in length.
The region around Kusel is also known as Musicians' Land. This area is named after the West Palatinate traveling musicians, who mainly set out from here from 1850 until the First World War. Already in the early 19th century, crop failures and famines forced the inhabitants of the West Palatinate to emigrate. They often earned money by making music.
Along the way, romantically located benches invite you to linger and marvel.
At the end, there is the possibility to stop for refreshments in Kusel.
