Allgäuer Königsalpenroute – close to the sky: King and Alps – here in Schlosspark they belong together: a majestic backdrop that inspired the fairy tale king Ludwig II and impressively sets castles and forts in the spotlight. The start and end point of this 121-kilometer route is the romantic old town Füssen with its medieval alleys and baroque churches. It goes above wild rivers, through forests, over wide meadows to quiet lakes, cozy alpine pastures and villages as well as historic places. The magnificent mountain panorama accompanies you until you reach the summit yourself and look down like an eagle on the royal landscape. Almost at the end of the route stands the castle of castles, Neuschwanstein, as a reward on a rock! For sporty hikers who enjoy climbing airy heights.

    Safety information

    Schlosspark tips for your route:

Provisions: Bring enough water to drink. A snack tastes especially good on the way.

Weather check: Best to check various services and ask mountain-savvy locals because it can rain or thunderstorm quickly in the mountains.

Companionship: You should not undertake a longer route alone, even if it seems easy and harmless. Always leave your route destination at your accommodation.

Ascent: Ascend slowly but steadily to protect your body. Those inexperienced rushing into the mountains risk injuries or a mountain rescue operation. Avoid hiking unknown mountain paths at night.

Emergency: Be a helper in accidents! Get help at the next alpine hut or notify mountain rescue.

Emergency signal: Give signals of waving, calling, or blinking six times per minute, then pause for one minute.

The start of this stage on the Allgäuer Königsalpenroute is directly at the Seeg train station. With the station behind you, go left to the nearby Bahnhofstraße. Here turn right and immediately left again into Wiesleutener Straße up to a small chapel, behind which the Kurgarten path leads right. At a crossroads near a small pond, follow the route to the left, cross Senkeleweg and leave the village of Seeg via the street Am Felbersteig. You reach a street which you follow a few steps to the left, then turn left again onto a field path. Passing the settlements Felben and Zeil, you come to a street that you cross straight and follow the path steadily to a farm. Here, walk about 100 m left to a street, then follow it about 100 m right again. Just before a hiking parking lot, turn left onto a field path, the hiking trail to Beichelsteinalpe. After passing the farm Goimenen, the access road to Beichelsteinalpe branches off after about one kilometer. The route continues straight to the viewpoint Senkele, then into a forest with the Senkele Alpe and on to the viewpoint Drei-Schlösser-Blick. After a kilometer you reach a crossroads where you turn sharply right. Follow the path through the forest for around 400 m, then just before the forest edge turn left onto a path. After another 600 m, keep right to a next forest path. Follow this left to a T-junction. After turning right, follow the path steadily through the forest up to the summit viewpoint Zwieselberg. This is followed by a steep descent. After a few hairpin bends, follow the path to the right. Shortly after, a steep descent again via a branching path leads to a nearby path, where you now hike right. About 400 m later, keep left, after another 500 m right again onto a downhill path. At the end of the descent, you meet a street and a parking lot. Walk left along the street, then shortly turn right into the forest to a Marian grotto and go left along a station trail to the edge of the forest. Take the local path left and walk with Kobusstraße and Seeger Straße to the St. Andreas Church in the center of Roßhaupten.

    Equipment

Equipment: With good - broken-in - hiking boots, you are safe and free from blisters. For clothing, layering is recommended: a short and a long shirt (cotton dries poorly, so better wool or special sportswear), zip-off pants, sweater, jacket, and rain cape. Also pack change of clothes, headgear, sunglasses, sunscreen, first aid kit, and flashlight in your backpack.
