UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Fire & Smoking - Making fires, smoking and grilling are strictly prohibited and must be avoided in the forest! Fires and thus great damage to nature and animal life can only be prevented this way.
- Be considerate on the move - Always behave with foresight, friendliness and consideration towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Nature conservation - Stay on the designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at the latest at dusk to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
- Picnic & Waste - Remember a garbage bag for the way and take your waste back home with you. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Leash dogs - Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Author’s map recommendations
We definitely recommend taking a topographic hiking map at a scale of 1:25,000. The State Office for Surveying and Geobasis Information Rhineland-Palatinate offers maps for the entire Palatinate Forest Nature Park. The following maps are needed for all trekking sites:
Book recommendations for this region:
Equipment
Since the trekking sites along the Southern Wine Route are somewhat off the villages and common hiking trails, you should of course also carry the appropriate trekking equipment.
Here we want to give you a little reminder of what should not be missing in your backpack:
Clothing/Rain protection: All-weather suitable clothing is always an advantage - even in the sunny Southern Wine Route it can unfortunately rain sometimes.
Sleeping: In your backpack you should not miss - tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, bivy sack, or other items...
Food: Drinking bottle and/or thermos bottle, stove including fuel and provisions, cutlery/dishes, can opener, lighter, pocket knife, pots and water canister, garbage bags
Washing: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, comb, razor...
Emergency/Health: Personal medications, first aid kit, cough drops, insect repellent, tick tweezers, sun protection, mobile phone, emergency numbers and ID card
Orientation: GPS device, hiking maps, binoculars, compass, guidebook
Luxury: Books, games, and entertainment for cozy gatherings around the campfire
Refreshments: Many different dining options in the nearby towns. Huts of the Palatinate Forest Association and the Nature Friends are usually open on weekends and holidays (sometimes also Wednesdays). You have to bring your own water.
With a small grill rack or even a foldable camping grill you could conjure up great food on the campfire. But grilled sausages on a stick also taste excellent in nature...
Miscellaneous: Camera, toilet paper, lock, flashlight, batteries.
And of course, you should always have your booking confirmation for the trekking sites of the Southern Wine Route in your backpack....
