Ochtinská aragonite cave - Slavošovce (with Hnúšťa cycle bus)

A route rich in historical monuments with the discovery of the story of the ambitious railway construction project - Gemerská spojka.
The route starts at the Ochtinská aragonite cave, which can be visited. After an asphalt road, you will subsequently move to Hotel Hrádok, from where a maintained forest road leads to the town of Jelšava. The town center will enchant you with a beautiful heritage zone dominated by the Coburg mansion. Worth a visit are the Jelšava City Museum and the monumental Church of St. Peter and Paul. The more skilled can take the route to the Old Jelšava castle with a beautiful view of the town and wider surroundings.
The cycle route continues from Jelšava to Lubeník and Chyžné, which boasts a rare Gothic church (its visit must be notified one day in advance).
From Chyžné you set out on a path where you will start discovering the story and structures of an ambitious railway construction project, though a train never ran on it. In the landscape, you will pass through several objects of the Gemerská spojka such as the Koprášsky (Mníšansky) viaduct, Koprášsky tunnel, and the dominant Slavošovce tunnel. From this tunnel, you will get directly to a relaxation zone of the fairy tale world, recalling the famous native of Slavošovce, P. E. Dobšinský.

Public transport
The trip can be taken with the Hnúšťa city cycle bus, which has stops in the town of Hnúšťa, Tisovec, the village of Muráň, and the town of Revúca. It picks up cyclists at the end of the cycle route in the village of Slavošovce, from where it goes along the Jelšava-Revúca-Muráň-Tisovec route back to the town of Hnúšťa.
