From Lehota to the peak of Vtáčnik

A line bike route that will guide you through the beauties of Veľká Lehota and Malá Lehota all the way to the very summit of Vtáčnik, the highest and most dominant peak of the GRON region.
We recommend starting the bike trip in the village of Veľká Lehota, known for its bagpipe tradition. However, if you have less time, start in Malá Lehota or Veľké Pole.
At the beginning of Malá Lehota, stop by the national natural monument - the Andesite stone sea, located right next to the main road. In the village center, you can refresh yourself at a local pub and continue through the scattered stable settlements of Malá Lehota towards Veľké Pole. On the way, you will also pass the edge of the Sokolec nature reserve.
From Veľké Pole, the remaining climb is on forest roads. About 1.5 km below the summit, we recommend stopping at Kláštorské rocks, which are the most beautiful and distinctive rock formations in the entire mountain range, shaped as rock towers, pillars, or blocks.
The summit of Vtáčnik itself offers wonderful views of the Štiavnické Hills, Kremnica Mountains, Strážov Mountains, the Malá and Veľká Fatra ranges, and the Žiar and Hornonitrianska basins.

From Veľká Lehota, you can quickly reach the Drozdovo area, which offers bike routes for downhill cycling enthusiasts.

The bike trip starts in the village of Veľká Lehota. We ride along the main paved road to the neighboring village of Malá Lehota, which is about 4 km away. In Malá Lehota, a steady climb awaits us to the village center, following the green cycling sign.
From the village center, we continue through the stable farm settlements of Lehota towards Veľké Pole. Here begins a solid steady climb. The blue bike route mostly follows the red hiking trail along the mountain ridge but deviates in some places, so be careful.
First, there is one smaller ascent to Suchá hora, followed by a short descent to a saddle, and then the climb continues up to the summit of Vtáčnik. The section from Veľké Pole to Vtáčnik is about 15 km and mainly leads through forest roads.
Currently, the return from the summit of Vtáčnik is only possible via the same route.

Directions
From R1 exit towards Nová Baňa. At the lower square near Lidl, turn left and continue straight for about 10 km to Veľká Lehota, or another 4 km to Malá Lehota.
You can reach Veľké Pole by exiting R1 towards Žarnovica. In the center, turn towards Partizánske and after approximately 15 km, passing through the villages of Horné Hámre and Píla, you will arrive at Veľké Pole.
