Eurovelo 11 - international long-distance cycle route

The section of the international EuroVelo 11 cycle route connects Prešov, Veľký Šariš, Sabinov, and Lipany and passes through a pleasant natural environment along the Torysa river.
The route offers an easy ride, interesting technical features such as the wooden Sarus cycle bridge, and several resting options, making it ideal for recreational cyclists and families.
The route starts in the city of Prešov and leads towards Veľký Šariš, following the course of the Torysa river. Because of this, the ride is calm, away from busy roads, and suitable even for less experienced cyclists. The surroundings consist of floodplain greenery, meadows, and quiet corners ideal for rest.
The highlight of the route is the historic wooden "Sarus" cycle bridge, which connects the banks of the Torysa under the castle hill. The bridge is unique due to its architectural design – it refers to the nearby Šariš Castle and combines modern infrastructure with the historical context of the region. The bridge also includes a viewing platform from which you can enjoy views of the river and surroundings.
After Veľký Šariš, the route continues past the Rybníky recreational area, providing an ideal place for a break. It then leads to Šarišské Michaľany, where it connects to another continuation of EuroVelo 11 through the towns of Sabinov and Lipany towards Poland.
The route is suitable for recreational rides, family trips, and as part of longer cycling tours within the international EuroVelo network, which connects northern Europe with the south – from Norway to Greece.
