The waters of the Schwerin Lakes (12 large and small lakes) extend far into the core of the residence city. This allows a large part of the city with its sights to be discovered from the boat perspective. As a paddler, you are also allowed to enter the Burgsee, which is closed to motorized ship traffic, and experience the magnificent buildings of the residence city, the shores of the parks, or the "floating meadow" from this special perspective. Nevertheless, nature is always only a few paddle strokes away. For example, at Adebors Näs - a green peninsula where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city. Food and drink options are not limited to the city center. You can relax and recharge with coffee and cake, for example, at the city beach of Zippendorf before crossing to the enchanted island Kaninchenwerder and returning.

Be sure to check weather conditions, as the waves on the lake become more challenging from wind force 3 and also depend on the wind direction. The Schwerin Lake is part of the Müritz-Elde-Stör waterway. There is boat traffic (excursion shipping, sailors, motorboats...), mainly from local boats. The lake is frequently less busy during the week, especially on weekdays. There are some shallows and underwater obstacles.
The Schwerin Lake is an EU bird sanctuary. Please observe the 10 Golden Rules for nature-friendly water sports and be a role model. - Inform yourself about navigation rules and closed seasons. Do not navigate into densely vegetated shore areas or shore woodlands, avoid noise, and keep distance from bird gatherings on the water. Camping and campfires are only allowed in designated and approved areas. THANK YOU for helping to preserve this unique lake landscape.
