The 1st SAARATHON will be held as part of the 36th Sparkassen Westspangenlauf on October 13, 2024.
The route initially leads from Saarbrücken Staden towards Osthafen and through the St. Arnual meadows. Then it continues in the opposite direction along the Saar to Völklingen with a detour to the Völklingen Ironworks, a World Heritage Site.
After the turning point near Hostenbach, the route heads upstream on the left bank of the Saar back to the Westspangen Bridge, where the riverbank is crossed for the last time. The finish line is at the starting point of the route (Saarbrücken Staden).
