Marathon Skate
The Marathon Skate is Europe's first circuit signposted at the original marathon distance. What was planned for inline skaters is, of course, also suitable for runners who want to test themselves over the approximately 42 km. The course features several tricky turns and some ramps and descents from the Rhine embankment to the plain, giving the route the character of a typical race course.
The ideal starting point is the Aegeten sports complex in Widnau. Here, in addition to changing rooms and showers, ideal recreational facilities are available. Those who do not want to complete the route for time have the possibility to visit the pool at the southern turning point in Oberriet, which is located directly on the route.
The Marathon Skate blends ideally into the landscape. Along inland canals, through old avenues where the poplars literally fly past the skaters, you also enjoy the distant view of the Alpstein mountains and the gentle hills of the Appenzellerland.

At Oberriet, visiting the fascinating Kobelwald Crystal Cave is worthwhile.
