The Triftweg leads to the Triftanlagen at the Kaltenbach, through the Palatinate Forest and to Wilgartswiesen. Returning to Rinnthal goes through the Queichtal.
The Triftweg begins in the village center opposite the church, at the information and hiking board. It leads west along the main street, a short section on the Queichtal cycle path towards Wilgartswiesen. After the B 10 underpass, the Triftweg turns right into the Wellbach valley. Past the meadows and the meandering Wellbach, the path winds up the valley to the Am Zwiesel parking lot. There the path turns left and now follows the Kaltenbach to the Fischerhütte. Past a meadow, the Triftweg now follows a path along the Modenbach to the Triftanlage and the Woog.
The path continues straight ahead until it turns left at the edge of the Kunzental with the blue-yellow marking. You can follow this path to Wilgartswiesen. After the first houses, the Triftweg turns left and runs parallel to the Queichtal cycle path through the Queichtal along the edge of the forest and below the Wilgartaburg ruin back to the starting point in Rinnthal.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for respectful coexistence in nature
- Always behave in a considerate, friendly and respectful manner towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember a rubbish bag for on the go and take your waste home again.
- Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- For your own safety, observe all trail closures, even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic, please.

At the Kaltenbach you can learn about log driving from information boards. There is a resting place on the meadow opposite the Fischerhütte.

General advice:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can conceal unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may fall. Especially in adverse weather conditions, nature trails can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You must expect these kinds of trail obstructions when hiking. If you think certain sections of the path are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where trails are closed and we may not have been informed. Should you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Equipment
For our hiking routes, we recommend the following standard equipment:
- Sturdy footwear
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Sun and rain protection
- Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as not everywhere there are places to eat or shop open
- Although the paths are very well marked throughout, for safety reasons it is always recommended to carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, in the event of a thunderstorm or emergency you can quickly find a safe area
