Above you the wide sky, beneath you the endless abyss, around you the bare karst.
The ascent takes you steadily away from grazed alpine pastures to the inhospitable, bizarre karst region of the Silberen. The whistle of marmots shows that you have long been discovered. Chamois also understand the signal and flee. Hardly imaginable that 10,000 years ago prehistoric hunters definitively hunted red deer and ibex here. Near the summit cross you will find traces of a long-gone settlement. The breathtaking panoramic view and solitude invite you to linger. From here the widely visible marked trail leads across the high plateau towards the east and finds its way through a water-shaped, legendary karst landscape. With some luck, ptarmigans appear here. Unexpectedly quickly you find yourself in the extensive sheep pastures of the Silberenalp. Countless small water puddles reflect the sunlight. The return path to Pragel is characterized by the view into the Klöntal with its deep blue mountain lake.

Muotathal is located in the heart of Central Switzerland. It is accessible by public transport with the bus Auto AG Schwyz No. 1 from Schwyz train station. The route between Muotathal Post and the valley station of the Sahli/Glattalp cable car is served by minibus No. 6.Directions
Muotathal is located in Central Switzerland and is easily accessible by car. From the Basel-Lucerne direction: Continue on the A14 from Lucerne towards Zug. After 20 km you reach the Rütihof junction. There take the A4 motorway towards Schwyz. Take the Schwyz exit and follow the signs towards Muotathal. From the Lake Constance and Rapperswil direction: At Rapperswil drive towards Pfäffikon / Gotthard. In Pfäffikon, briefly take the A3 motorway towards Gotthard. Then take the first exit towards Gotthard / Schwyz. The road leads over Rothenthurm and Sattel to Schwyz. In Schwyz drive towards Muotathal. From the Gotthard-Altdorf direction: Take the bypass road (tunnel) in Flüelen towards Schwyz. After the Mosi tunnel, leave the motorway at exit 40 Brunnen (direction Weggis/Gersau/Schwyz/Brunnen). Drive towards Ibach/Schwyz and at the 2nd roundabout in Ibach (near Dany's Family Restaurant), take the first exit towards Muotathal.Coordinates
