The start is at St. Michael's Church in Dedenborn. At the beginning of the 18th century, as the larger towns separated from the parish churches Konzen and Simmerath, new houses of worship had to be built. This was also the case in Dedenborn. In 1717, the foundation stone for St. Michael's Church was laid, which was built in a rural architectural style. Today, despite its extension in 1973, it is the only remaining church of this type in the Monschauer Land. Inside, it houses historically valuable Stations of the Cross paintings from the 17th century.

After only about half a kilometer, you reach the unique Mullion-structure rocks in Germany. The folded rock layers of graywacke were discovered in 1952 during surveying work by the state geologist Dr. Wolfgang Schmidt. The Mullion structures owe their name to their unique appearance, which resembles a bundle of pillars on Gothic church windows.

Cross the Rur and continue through the forest along the Tiefenbach stream until you reach the oil mill. Here you can get an impression of the 17th century: The building complex still clearly shows how beech nut and other edible oils were produced here back then.

On the way back to St. Michael's Church, you can take a small detour to the Stations of the Cross. The small houses of the Stations of the Cross were built between 1857 and 1863 in the center of Dedenborn and made the town a popular pilgrimage site in the Eifel. Some of the old plaster sculptures are still preserved; others have been newly made from clay.
