For centuries, wolves roamed through the northern Black Forest and thus also through Hohenwart. On this route, you follow their tracks.
You pass a Waldbronn, where the wolf pack regularly drank, and a Wildmauer. This was mainly built for (roe) deer, not for the wolf. He could have simply jumped over it. At the Wolfsgrube, built in 1600, there is a magnificent view over the Liebeneck castle ruins and the former territory of the great hunters. The noble knights surely met the pack during their patrols in the 12th century.
The hike on the beautiful natural paths through the forest gives an impression of how these animals moved through the today peaceful northern Black Forest.
But don't worry, you won't encounter a wolf on the wolf tracks. The last wolf was shot in the region in 1850.
