We start at the Weiherwiesen hiking parking lot and hike up through an enchanted valley in the Swabian Alb Biosphere Reserve. A narrow path winds its way up the hill. At the height of the Kopffelsen, it continues. After a short time, we head downhill again. A great view of Buttenhausen awaits us. Later we pass the Jewish cemetery and the grain mill. Along the Große Lauter, it goes back to the Weiherwiesen hiking parking lot, which invites you to linger with barbecue and playground facilities.

From the Weiherwiesen hiking sign, cross the "Große Lauter" bridge towards the playground. At the playground, go straight ahead and follow the Albverein hiking sign. It leads onto a small path that climbs steeply uphill. At the first junction at the top, go straight over and continue along the path until it merges onto a trail. At the trail, go left down the small hill. At km 1.4, turn left. Stay right on the trail. We hike along the Kopffelsen. It goes steeply downhill and at km 2.1, continue straight on in a sharp left bend into a path. This ends at the Jewish Cemetery Buttenhausen. We walk past this until the path leads onto the street. Follow the street down to the intersection, where the mill is also located. At the railing of the mill, turn left and follow the bike path. We hike along the "Große Lauter" back to the Weiherwiesen playground.
