Günther Weinert
A hike that takes place almost entirely in the forest on perfect hiking paths and trails. There is only asphalt in the small village of Waldhambach. At the Madenburg, you not only have the perfect view but also an ideal spot for a nice rest.
Whether you walk the hike clockwise or counterclockwise depends on your intention to stop for a break. The photo series shows the hike counterclockwise, the route description follows clockwise.

Roadbook
From the church, walk along the main street past the volunteer fire department building (fountain) and follow the "filled white triangle" (Waldhambach - Annweiler route) northwest. The valley path is initially wide but then narrows to a trail. You leave this hiking trail just before the narrow road leading from Annweiler to Trifels (K2) to the right.
Now begins the beautiful "Cramer Path" (Ritterstein 42), which takes you without any ascent to the Pieta house (Ritterstein 43). You cross the parking lot and hike up to the Madenburg. From Ritterstein 42 to Madenburg, follow the hiking sign "black dot on white background" (Saarbrücken - Rülzheim route).
After a pleasant rest with a magnificent panoramic view, you walk south around the Rothenberg (no hiking sign) and then encounter the hiking sign "yellow-green bar" at the parking lot, which leads downhill all the way to Waldhambach.
