WARNING regarding the use of the Azimut project content:
The extent of the trails in this network is very large and subject to rapid and unpredictable degradation due to natural or human causes, so the human and economic resources available are insufficient to resolve all issues in real time; however, the network exists though sometimes it may present difficulties in passability and/or orientation. Furthermore, electronic GPS routes may contain errors due to the instruments used or the surveying or recording methods; they should be considered an aid for locating the itinerary and navigation and do not replace the topographic map and traditional orientation tools. For these reasons, the exercise of public information activities, monitoring, maintenance of the trails and signage by volunteers coordinated by CAI Macerata does not exclude the presence of natural obstacles and difficulties nor the risks connected to visiting the natural environment, and anyone undertaking a route/itinerary, even if signposted, does so under their own responsibility to know and be able to control the means adopted, to wear appropriate clothing, to have the necessary physical preparation, to be familiar with orientation techniques, map reading and terrain reading, and be able to recognize and evaluate the risks of their own behavior and precautions to mitigate their effects.
Tips and suggestions
Pay attention to the initial section. Steep and slippery stretches.
Roadbook
The trailhead is located on the right side of the main road leading to Ussita, just past the intersection and before entering the tunnel. It climbs for a short stretch until reaching a group of houses and continues along the hillside until reconnecting with the official CAI trail. This section features some challenging and slippery passages, exercise caution (Difficulty EE). Immersed in dense woodland, you can glimpse the town of Visso, reaching a ridge with a clearing where the summit of Mount Efra can be seen. Continuing along a rather panoramic false flat, following a comfortable ridge line, you will reach the summit of Mount Torrone, a viewpoint overlooking Monte Bove.
Directions
For those coming from the A14 take the Civitanova Marche - Foligno highway and exit at km 33 near Muccia, follow the signs for Muccia first and then Visso. For those coming from the A1 exit at Orte heading towards Terni-Spoleto. Take the SP 209 Norcia Cascia Visso.
Parking
We recommend leaving the car at the parking after the tunnel or alternatively at the parking near Laghetto.
