Varied short hike over narrow forest paths – with two bathing lakes to cool off.
The southern Weißensee circular route narrows at times to a narrow path right along the water and leads through a natural rock gate. Just behind the transformer station, the route winds in conditioning-demanding switchbacks up the Burkenbichlberg. At its western point, you have the two-lake view of Weißensee and Alatsee as well as the mountain peaks south of the Vilstal. Treat yourself to a break on one of the benches – here you are very far from everyday life. The legendary Alatsee, also known as the setting of a Kluftinger crime novel "Seegrund," offers natural bathing spots and a dining option at the Hotel & Restaurant Alatsee. After descending through the forest above the Weißensee, you can take a final dip in the lake at the end of the tour.
Author’s recommendation

Roadbook
You start at the bathing spot and follow the Weißensee circular route westward past the playground towards the forest. Always near the lake, you hike to the road on the east bank. There, turn right and follow the paved road for only about 200 meters. At the upcoming fork, first turn left and shortly after right towards "Hahnenkopfweg." Follow the wide driveway until you turn right onto Hahnenkopfweg after just under 900 meters. This takes you through the forest up to the Two Lakes View. From there, it goes steeply downhill to Alatsee. Upon reaching Alatsee, turn right onto the road and follow it past Alatsee and the public parking lot until the path branches off to the left at the red barrier towards the Weißensee circular route. The forest path leads you back to the shore of Weißensee. There, turn left and follow the Weißensee circular route back to your starting point at the Weißensee bathing spot.
