To the Sisi Castle in Unterwittelsbach
The hike from Aichach station to the Sisi Castle in Unterwittelsbach is a lovely little break from everyday life - not just for history fans!
Along quiet field and forest paths, it goes to the water castle. The path is easy to walk, without major inclines – perfect if you just want to clear your head.
Along the way, there are repeated wide views over the Wittelsbach region, and depending on the season, the landscape changes between lush green, golden fields, or colorfully tinted deciduous trees. The section between Ober- and Unterwittelsbach is especially beautiful – there is a small history trail with wooden figures and information boards that tell a bit about the region and the history of the Wittelsbachs.
Shortly before the destination, it becomes particularly idyllic: You walk through an old castle park with large trees, small ponds, and a lot of peace. And then the water castle appears – the Sisi Castle, as it is lovingly called here. It used to be the summer residence of Duke Max, the father of Empress Elisabeth. Today you can visit a small, fine exhibition there or simply enjoy the castle and its surroundings.
