The Meistersel castle ruin in view

The starting point of this beautiful hike is the Drei Buchen hiking car park high above the Modenbach valley and Ramberg. With the marking "white stripe with black dot" you start on a forest road heading west and follow the signposts Forsthaus Heldenstein, Ramburg tavern, and Böchinger hut.

High above your path, you can spot the walls of the restored Meistersel castle ruin through the foliage of the trees. After 10 to 15 minutes, the path gently ascends and takes you to the Manfred Eschbächer Platzel, a small rest area. From here, follow the well-developed level forest road to the left with the signposts Ramburg tavern and Böchinger hut. This connecting path is marked with a white dot. After about 3 km, you reach the crossroads at Langentalkopf (access point 6713191 for rescue vehicles). Please follow left in a southwesterly direction the high path marked green-blue and the familiar signposts Ramburg tavern and Böchinger hut. You walk this path up to the green-white marked access point 6713-190.

Here the marking changes for you. The red dot leads you on the right forest road westward in 10 to 15 minutes into the Pottasch valley to the Böchinger hut. You deserve a rest with Palatinate dishes and Böchinger juices and wines. Perhaps you enjoy our slaughter festivals and come for the hearty hut feast in March or October. After the rest, it goes back up to the high path in slow steps with the red dot for the first few minutes. 

After this strenuous ascent, you have two options:
Follow the green-blue marking to the left, heading north towards Lärchengarten and Forsthaus Heldenstein and reach the Drei Buchen hiking car park again on the path you know and the connecting path with the white dot. However, we recommend you hike with the red dot to the right towards Ramburg tavern and Ramberg. At the shelter at Barebäm, immediately after the crossroad, you can descend right on the narrow connecting path marked with a white dot directly to Ramberg into Schlossbergstrasse. The red dot takes you via the Ramburg tavern and the Ramburg in a loop around the Burgberg to Ramberg. Follow Schlossbergstrasse in Ramberg to the beginning, turn right into Hauptstrasse, and orient yourself at the large village square to the left up to Mühlstrasse. Past the inn "Zum goldenen Lamm" the red dot brings you over Mühlberg to the pasture areas above the village.

With the red dot and many other markings, you reach the Drei Buchen hiking car park after 1.5 km. Those who wish to have a final rest at the Waldhaus Drei Buchen take the narrow path branching right from the forest road before the end of the hike marked with a red square. It ends directly next to the Waldhaus. After the rest, you walk on a level path for 5 minutes to your car.
