Roadbook
From the parking lot in Spitzingsee at the church, go down towards the lake and then before the Old Wurzhütte turn left onto Valeppstraße. There is a barrier here that can be bypassed from the side. Only cars with special permission are allowed to enter here. After 200 meters, turn left onto Schwarzenkopfweg uphill towards Rotwand and Schönfeldhütte, with beautiful views into the Valepp valley. Simply follow the signs. Until the Rotwandhaus junction, inclines are around 8%. After that, it gets steeper for about one kilometer up to approx. 14%. At the junction to Rotwandhaus, continue straight on the road steeply uphill over a cattle grid, and further up there are a few slanted drainage channels. At the chapel, the road continues right and passes under the Taubenstein cable car. At Raukopfhütte, turn left uphill to Schönfeldhütte. Shortly before the destination, the surface is grass grid stones for about 100 meters.
This is usually the end of the road for a wheelchair. With an electric towing device, the front wheels are in the air, and this section can thus also be overcome, making the entire route doable.
The entrance to Schönfeldhütte (self-service) has many steps. However, there are seating areas in front of the hut. The toilets are not accessible by wheelchair.
