    Safety information

The 12 most important rules for behavior in the mountains

    1. Every route should be carefully planned! What is the path? Where are the huts? How far are the distances?

    2. Check the weather forecast!

    3. The equipment must fit: important are good footwear, a weatherproof backpack, sun protection, warm and windproof clothing, sufficient drinks and provisions as well as a small first aid kit, hiking map, and mobile phone.

    4. Inform the renter or acquaintances where you are heading and also share when you expect to return. In an emergency, it can be helpful to register in the hut or summit books.

    5. Adjust every mountain or mountain bike route you set out on to your personal condition. If children are involved, definitely adapt to their condition.

    6. Avoid walking too fast! The pace should be adjusted to the weakest member of the group. Take frequent small breaks.

    7. Do not leave marked trails.

    8. Be cautious. Do not dislodge stones that might endanger other mountain hikers. In rocky terrain, animals like chamois can often trigger rockfalls.

    9. If a thunderstorm threatens, turn back in time. If you do get caught in a thunderstorm, stay away from solitary trees, do not remain on summits or ridges, and move into depressions or valleys. Protection from thunderstorms in the mountains is only offered by a safe shelter.

    10. In case of an emergency, stay calm. Seek help using a mobile phone, by shouting, or by signaling with larger pieces of clothing. Do not leave injured persons alone and try to remove them from danger zones.

    11. Dogs must always be kept on a leash!

    12. Please keep the mountains clean and take your waste back with you!

    Roadbook

We start our hike after the ascent with the Biosphere Park Railway Brunnach. From the mountain station, we follow hiking trail 161 northeast along the Brunnachhöhe (there is a shelter hut at the Brunnach enclosure) to the Mallnock (2226m). At the summit cross, we follow the hiking trail northeast to the Klomnock (2331m). From here we continue towards Falkertsee until the junction near the flat notch, change to hiking trail 1611 heading south and follow it to the Lärchenhütte or to the Falkerthaus. From the Falkerthaus we follow the Alpen Adria Trail southwards to St. Oswald.
