Slow Trail Kitzelberg, Klopeiner See
Tourismusregion Klopeiner See – Südkärnten – Lavanttal Verified partner
Whoever climbs Kitzelberg is rewarded with one of the most beautiful views in the region. And that (almost) without effort. Because the 686 m high mountain can easily be managed even by inexperienced hikers along a wide forest road that winds idyllically through the forest. Once at the top, you can enjoy from the new viewing platform a fantastic view over the Jauntal with the deep blue Klopeiner See and the somewhat smaller Turnersee, which are among Austria's most popular and warmest bathing lakes.
Tip: Those who look down into the valley to the left halfway along the hiking trail can spot the reed-covered Kleinsee and the parish church of Stein in Jauntal amidst the green fields, where the custom of the so-called "Striezelwerfen" is still celebrated today in honor of Saint Hildegard of Stein.
