    Safety information

Beware of the rock jump corresponding to the rocky ring that characterizes the Sibilla summit. The vertical section of a few meters is secured by a chain. Be careful after the summit as there is an exposed section.

WARNINGS regarding use of the Azimut project contents:

The extent of the trails in this network is very large and subject to rapid and unpredictable degradation due to natural or human causes, so the available human and economic resources are insufficient to resolve all criticalities in real time; however, the network exists even though it may sometimes present issues of passability and/or orientation. Also, the electronic GPS routes may contain errors due to the instruments used or the surveying/tracking methods; they should be considered aids for locating the route and navigation and do not replace topographic maps and traditional orientation tools. For these reasons, the public information activities, monitoring, trail and signage maintenance carried out by volunteers coordinated by CAI Macerata do not exclude the existence of natural obstacles and difficulties nor the risks connected with the natural environment. Anyone undertaking a route/itinerary, even if marked, does so under their own responsibility to know and control the means used, to wear suitable clothing, to have prepared physically, to be aware of orientation techniques, map reading and territory interpretation, and to be able to recognize and assess the risks of their behavior and the precautions to mitigate these risks.

    Roadbook

From the Sibilla refuge, take the path behind the valley and climb until reaching the ridge at Monte Zampa. Follow the ridge westward to the summit. Beware of the rock jump just before the summit. The vertical rocky section of a few meters is protected by a chain. Continue to the summit passing by the Sibilla cave. Unfortunately, there is no cave but a hole believed to be the entrance to a collapsed cavern. Once at the summit, continue along the ridge to the road, paying attention to a short exposed section. If in a hurry, you can retrace the path back to the refuge. The road is a somewhat boring and hot section during summer days, but the view of Vettore and the Pilato valley eases the effort.
