Palatinate Wine Trails: Panorama Path Spielberg-Michelsberg
Via the stroller-accessible reduced barrier route. From Michelsberg, the oldest vineyard in the Palatinate, with terraces made of dry stone walls, you have a beautiful view of the town, Kurpark, the graduation tower, and the popular water playground. Pilgrims used to be fed at the Michaelis Chapel: the origin of the Dürkheim sausage market. It goes past old vineyard walls with vineyards arranged behind the dry stone wall tops, above the heads of hikers, which have only the sky above them, to Spielberg with a 360-degree panorama of the Palatinate Forest, vineyards, and Rhine plain. In the distance, you can make out the 2,000-year-old Roman winery at Weilberg, which can be explored via the "Circular Route Roman Winery Weilberg." On the way back you are rewarded with more dry stone wall terraces and in spring with a several hundred meters long pink and white blossoming almond tree avenue. Panels of the Geo-Experience Trail (separate hike) provide information about history, viticulture, and landscape.
