The almond terrace is Bad Dürkheim's new, blooming observation balcony below the Michaeliskapelle on the Michelsberg.
It is especially beautiful here during the almond blossom in March when the thirteen different young almond trees bloom. Six of them bloom in shades of pink, such as the deep pink glowing "Mandelkönigin," while seven bloom white, like the "Dürkheimer Krachmandel."
An information panel takes visitors on a journey through the world of almonds.
On the terrace, as a homage to Palatinate wine, the new "Terroirtisch" has also found its place, showcasing the most significant vineyard soils of the German Wine Route. Soon, information panels will also take you on a time journey through 400 million years.
In the summer, it will become colorful. On the "Blühwiese," local and insect-friendly species like bluebell, mallow, and evening primrose will shine.
The exposed sandstone walls invite insects and lizards to bask in the sun.
The historic sandstone wall and the two 360-degree rotating sensory loungers provide a view of the brine building, Bad Dürkheim, and the Palatinate Forest.
