Hike from Weißensee between the Faulenbach Valley and the Tyrolean Vilstal on hidden paths.
From Weißensee, forest trails lead to Alatsee, whose south shore was formerly the fastest border crossing point to the green border, and where before the EU opening of state borders, some smuggled goods were transported.
It then continues above Alatsee on the Hahnenkopf Trail towards Bad Faulenbach, to then descend several hundred meters to the Ländescharte.
Exciting and secured with a cable in one place is the ascent through the Ländescharte to the Ländeweg on the Tyrolean side. Here once lay the raft lands, the storage and binding sites of the rafters at the Vils and Lech rivers.
Again steeply uphill, you reach the Schwärzerweg, where after rain you can find many black alpine salamanders. From Bad Faulenbach over Faulenbachgässchen to the old town of Füssen. Return to Weißensee-See by public transport line 71.
Author’s recommendation
Above Alatsee, a short (2-minute) detour to the Two-Lakes View is worthwhile. Especially the view of the mystical Alatsee is unique.

Safety information
After rainy days, the Ländescharte can be slippery and is not recommended.
In early summer months, especially near Ländescharte, Ländeweg, and Schwärzerweg, there are many mosquitoes active—be sure to use mosquito spray or alternatively do not stand still.
After the hike, be sure to check your body for ticks. They hide especially in tall grass when crossing the Ländescharte.

Roadbook
You start at the Weißensee bathing area and walk counterclockwise along the lake for a while until a narrow path branches off to the right on the south shore towards Alatsee, leading you up the wooded slope to Alatsee Street. You follow the paved Alatsee Street until just before Hotel Alatsee, where the ascent to the Two-Lakes View and the Hahnenkopf Trail begins on the left side. Treat yourself to a short detour to the Two-Lakes View, then continue along the Hahnenkopf Trail towards Bad Faulenbach. At the next fork, keep right on the gravel path towards Alatsee road. When you reach the road, keep left and walk along the road towards Bad Faulenbach. After about 300 meters, turn right towards Ländescharte/Tyrol. From this hiking trail, a path later branches off to the right over the Ländescharte into Austria. After passing through the Ländescharte, keep left on the south side of the ridge along the Ländeweg and continue on the well-maintained path towards Lechfall and Füssen. From the Ländeweg, a path branches to the left leading as a narrow forest trail up to Schwärzerweg. You walk on this towards Bad Faulenbach and descend to the parking lot of Hotel Schweiger. At the hotel, turn right and reach the Ländeweg, from which a few meters ahead a staircase leads to Mühlenweg. Via Mühlenweg, you get to Faulenbachgässchen, along which you follow the Lech river to Theresienbrücke. Before the bridge, turn left to Lechhalde, which leads you up into the old town of Füssen. The pedestrian zone (Reichenstraße) starts at the town fountain; at its northern end, cross the traffic light and then turn left to the train station. Directly at the station is also the bus station, from where bus line 71 takes you back to the Weißensee-See stop.
Places to eat are available at the Weißensee bathing area, at Hotel & Restaurant Alatsee, in Bad Faulenbach, and in the pedestrian zone of Füssen.
