Bad Säckingen is one of the best-known towns on the High Rhine with a long eventful history impressively presented in the High Rhine Museum. Many historic buildings also testify to this. However, it is probably best known for the work "Der Trompeter von Säckingen" written in 1854 by Joseph Victor von Scheffel, later premiered as an opera. Often played from it is "Behüt dich Gott, es wär so schön gewesen…". Above Bad Säckingen lies the artificially dammed Bergsee; nearby is also the freely accessible wildlife park. The highlight of the hike is the Solfelsen, a natural monument registered since 1950. The rock, 5.4 meters high and weighing 230 tons, lying exposed, is not an ice age erratic but formed by a long-lasting weathering process.

Roadbook
The hike starts at the train station of the trumpeter town Bad Säckingen and leads over the Badmatte and the Kurzentrum through the town, where one is reminded everywhere of Viktor von Scheffel and the trumpeter of Säckingen. It continues to the Bergseekurve, where there is also a small wildlife park; a detour to the Bergsee is also worthwhile. Shortly after the Bergseekurve at the Günnenbacher Weg the route leads into the Schöpfebachtal towards Jungholz. At the Jungholzer Felsen, the path passes the signpost Eglesmatt to Jungholz, a district of Rickenbach. To the left now leads to the Sohlfelsen which is soon reached and enjoy the view. At the Spatzenhof you head back. Passing the Kellerlesfelsen and Windenplatz, Günnenbach is reached. From here, the Günnenbacher Weg leads back to the Bergsee and the starting point Bad Säckingen train station.
