Nußbach Ge(h)nuss Trail
Idyllically located and surrounded by vineyards, the Oberkirch district of Nußbach lies here. The ten-kilometer long Ge(h)nuss trail leads to the most beautiful viewpoints around the district.
Diverse viewing directions to the Black Forest heights and into the Rhine valley are guaranteed! On the themed trail, there are panorama boards that provide information about the respective views. The trail makes the wonderful cultural landscape around Nußbach and its products tangible: panorama views, good wine, aromatic fruit brandies, a rich orchard and varied gastronomy provide this. The hiking trail already carries the motto in its name and is particularly highlighted by the Nußbach symbol, the “Nut”.

Over more than 10 kilometers in length, the new "Ge(h)nuss Trail" leads interested hikers to the most beautiful viewpoints in Nußbach. The trail starts at Nußbach town hall, with parking available behind the St. Sebastian Church. The hike first leads west to the intersection of Renchtalstraße / Nesselrieder Straße, where you turn left and continue along the path. After the Kronguthalle and Krongut School, follow the road until a fork to the left marks the further path. Before the playground, turn right onto the agricultural path towards Weilerwald. At the next intersection, the hike leads into the forest. After about 900 meters, there is a right/left combination which you follow, leading past the locations Weilerwald and Rappenloch. The tour then leads uphill to the first great view of the Rhine valley. Once at the top, after a short rest, go left uphill towards Fuchslochhütte for the next viewpoint. After the hut, follow the forest path and turn left towards Rohrbacher Eck. To the right of this intersection is a small drinking house inviting you to linger. The tour continues straight over Fichtenbuckel to the Teufelskapelle. The trail then turns left and leads through the vineyard to the next highlight, the Hecker vine. The path now runs along the edge of the vineyard and leads downhill to the Münsterblick. Upon reaching the street, keep right, pass the vineyard road on the left, past the stone cross "Reschekreuz" towards Schiehald with a view of Nußbach. After this viewpoint, follow the trail left, downhill to the paved vineyard road, then follow this to the right. After the partial descent to a bench on the right side, the trail continues straight on an unpaved path. After about 80 meters the path turns right and leads you through the forest to the St. Wendelin Chapel. After the chapel, turn left into Kindergartenstraße and then again after about 100 meters left into an unpaved vineyard path. This section leads over the “Trottberg” with a 360-degree view of Oberkirch and the Rhine valley. The trail then goes downhill past the Judas Thaddäus Chapel to the next worthwhile viewpoint, “Hohwacht”. You leave the viewpoint and follow the trail left through a small forest and onto the vineyard. The path crosses the paved road and the “trail” first leads parallel to the road and then left to the Herztal viewpoint. After this seating option, it goes uphill through the vineyard towards Neuberg. Back on the paved road, follow the signs to the viewpoint “Im Strubach”. At this viewpoint, you can admire the Nußbach church and the Strasbourg cathedral side by side. Below, the path turns right and after about 100 meters again right downhill past Weierhof. The path section takes you outside Weierhof and turns left below the buildings into a footpath. Then keep right on the driveway to the homestead. At the next opportunity the path turns left into the fruit teaching path and you follow the right path of the fruit teaching trail. At the end of this section stands a memorial cross from which the path leads right onto Herztalstraße. The path now goes, opposite the Brestenberg street entrance, right into Lussweg. This partly natural path section takes you downhill to Renchtalstraße to the final straight and back to the church and the starting point.
