Hike in the breathtaking scenery of the Vuokatinvaara ridge to Möykynlampi – and refresh yourself in the clear water of the mystical forest pond! An experience you won’t forget!
From Vuokatinvaarat, this route offers views alternately to the west and east. The Möykyn loop climbs to the highest fells near Keima at Kettumäki and then along the western slopes of Matovaara toward Möykynvaara. Behind it awaits the magnificent Möykynlampi. On the shore of the pond there is a reservation hut and a fireplace in front of it. There is also a swimming platform on the shore.
There are several good rest spots along the way, for example Kettumäki’s kota, Möykynlampi, Heikkilä’s Pirtti café, and Ainola lean-to & kota.
The Möykyn loop runs entirely on ski trail bases. In some places the trail is a narrower path, but in many places wider, where two can walk side by side. The route is relatively easy, but large elevation differences add challenge. Especially after rain, the route may have slightly damper spots, but the trail base has been improved and boardwalks renewed during the summer of 2025.
The route is passable during snow-free seasons, not in winter.

The start is from the yard of Vuokatti Sports Institute in front of Vuokatti Arena. From the yard, cross the railway to the so-called ski bridge and immediately after the bridge turn first right and then left. The route passes next to Vuokatti Adventure Park.
From here, head through Länsirinteet towards the old Hostess School area and further towards Kettumäki. From there continue towards Möykyn, then to Heikkilä. From here you return to the Sports Institute area along the illuminated ski trail.
