Minfeld/Freckenfeld - Wine and Meadow Trail - Short stage Freckenfeld
This short stage of the Wine and Meadow Trail Minfeld/Freckenfeld leads around and through the village of Freckenfeld (in the Bienwald region Kandel), which is known for its Dampfnudel Gate.
This leisurely hike leads over fields, meadows, and vineyards, and through Freckenfeld (a village in the Bienwald region Kandel). The vineyard "Gräfenberg" is also along the way, as well as the bee educational trail along Dorfbach (bee-friendly perennials here provide lively buzzing, and informational boards share interesting and little-known facts about bees). Numerous benches invite you to rest along this tranquil path. In the main street, it's worth a look at the famous Dampfnudel Gate – who knows how many dampfnudels can be found on it?
UFFBASSE! – Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature:
- Be considerate on the way – Always behave considerately, friendly, and attentively towards everyone you meet on the way. This applies especially on farm roads, where vintners, farmers, and foresters also work on weekends.
- Picnic & waste – Remember a trash bag for the way and take your waste with you. Use furnished resting areas exclusively for breaks and picnics.
- Nature conservation – Stay on marked paths and avoid unnecessary noise when in nature. Leave the forest by dusk at the latest to not disturb the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
- Fire & smoking – Making fires, smoking, and barbecuing are strictly prohibited and must be avoided in the forest! Fires and resulting major damage to nature and wildlife can only be prevented this way.
- Leash dogs – Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

Safety information
Hiking on natural paths and trails – Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide uneven terrain, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches drop. In adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery passages. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is sometimes required. You should expect such path impairments when hiking. If you find certain sections impassable, you should avoid them. Despite trail markings, for safety reasons it is always recommended to carry a suitable hiking map to quickly find a safe area, for example in case of a thunderstorm or emergency. Path closures and detours must be strictly observed.

Roadbook
The start of this shortened stage of the Wine and Meadow Trail is at the village shop in Freckenfeld. From there, we follow the signage (trail logo: bunch of grapes) northwards, passing the village fountain and heading towards the primary school until reaching Raiffeisenstraße, then turning left and following Raiffeisenstraße and Kirchstraße along to Lindenstraße, where we turn right. Here, it's worth taking a look at the beautiful herb garden and the "Napoleon's Bench." Leaving the village, we follow the signs past fields to the vineyard "Gräfenberg." Here, we enjoy the view of the vines before following the marker to the right and finally walking over the Karlshöhlchen, crossing the main road, continuing left through Gänsried and then right towards Dorfbach. Upon arrival, we turn right and follow Dorfbach along meadows to Wattstraße, where we turn right. Those who wish can also visit the bee educational trail along Dorfbach, inviting a pause. Then continue right into the main street and back to the starting point, the village shop in Freckenfeld.
In the main street, it is also worth a look at the famous Freckenfeld Dampfnudel Gate.
Anyone who wishes can walk the complete Wine and Meadow Trail Minfeld/Freckenfeld – it is signposted in both directions and can therefore also be used as a circular walk around each individual village.
