On the southwestern edge of the Nationalpark Kalkalpen lies the Pyhrnbahn railway. It runs from Linz to Selzthal and represents an important north-south axis. Relevant stations for national park visitors are in Klaus, Steyrling, Hinterstoder, Roßleithen, and Windischgarsten. With few exceptions, express trains run hourly between Linz and Spital am Pyhrn or Selzthal. This dense express train schedule is further strengthened by four Intercity connections between Graz and Linz stopping at Windischgarsten.
