This circular hiking trail runs alongside the Martuljek river and takes us through the Martuljek gorge. Along the way, we will pass by the Martuljek Waterfall.
You are located in the only national park in Slovenia - Triglav National Park. Be a good example to others by following the rules. Only together we can preserve this sensitive area.
The Trail under the mountain Špik will take us past charcoal pits, where we can find info point. The trail then continues along Martuljek river where we can see many cairns made of stones but we need to be careful because alongside the river there is a high risk of falling rocks. The path continues on the steep stairs near the river and then passes by Martuljek waterfall. Martuljek waterfall falls over a 29 m high wall into a 400 m long and narrow limestone gorge - the Martuljek Gorge. The trail ends at Pri Ingotu hut on Jesenje pasture.
For the way back, we take the same trail to the second crossroad where we choose another (left) path to make a loop and avoid descending on steep stairs.

Roadbook
The starting point of the trail is at the intersection of the cycling path in Gozd Martuljek. To get to the starting point, we need to turn left at the second intersection after crossing the bridge over Sava Dolinka river. After about 100 m of walking from the first information board we continue the trail in accordance with the sign - to the right. After a few minutes of walking, we reach the charcoal pits, where we can find an info point.
We follow the trail straight ahead and after 400 meters, we reach the Martuljek stream, which we cross over a small bridge and continue to the right into the Martuljek gorge. We continue the trail along the river, where we will notice cairns made of stone. The path then crosses the stream again and ascent on steep stairs. At the top of the stairs, we will have a view of the Martuljek Waterfall.
We continue the trail to the crossroads, where turning right takes us back to the starting point, and turning left continues to the Jesenje alpine pasture or Upper Martuljek waterfall. After 100 meters, we reach a junction where we continue on the left path. After 400 meters, we reach a new junction, where we turn left and reach the Jesenje Alpine pasture, where Pri Ingotu hut is located.
To return back to the starting point, we return from the Jesenje Alpine pasture on the same trail all the way to the junction that on the right descends down the stairs where we came up before. To avoid descending on the steep stairs and make the trail circular, we continue on the path ahead all the way to the charcoal pits. From there, we can continue to the arrival point.
